QSC K8.2 Powered 8" 2-way Loudspeaker
Looking for something for solo singer/acoustic guitar or duo. Is the sound quality better than combo amps like a Fishman Loud Box, Marshall AS 100 etc?
I would place more value on vocals quality than guitar (Martin OOO17 w/Baggs M80). I would probably use the QSC as a personal monitor and PA in other situations which would be a plus. Others to consider in that price range? Thanks |

A great choice and dramatically more powerful than any acoustic guitar amp. If you've got EQ and effects elsewhere, it can be used as a complete mixer/amp solution as I do with a CP8 for my duo.

Best choice available - great sound, versatile ... I use it in the setting you describe and could not be happier. On the 8.2 they added a bunch of very nice features my old K8 did not have.

I use a Yamaha DXR10 with excellent results. It has terrific clarity for vocals and ample bass for drop-tuned playing. A compact powerhouse with a fantastic warranty.

As my username suggests, huge fan of Yamaha products. Own many acoustic-electric models from 2009-present and a couple electric. Lots of PA too. |

I like the PA speaker option. I use a Schertler amp and it actually sounds better for guitar than going to the board and into a powered speaker, however slightly. But in my experience there are very few amps that can actually sound as good as a modern powered speaker like the QSC or Yamaha, etc. And even fewer acoustic amps that can produce the overall sound quality for multiple instruments/voices and the output levels. The powered speaker is a flexible good sounding option.

Considering the same. So what did you go with?
