Default Ovation HELP! needed

Hello fellow Guitarists,

I have exhausted most normal avenues and am now turning to the help of the internet to either find the part or have someone make it for me. It's the Bridge Saddle for the strings for an Ovation 1861 Standard Balladeer, made in USA. I bought this guitar new in Oxford England and have played it all over the world, as have many other people who asked!

I recently had it re-fretted professionally and they could not find this part and the B is dull because of the saddle bridge grooves being worn.

Please help by either offering services or pointing me in the right direction. [email protected] is my email.

I have my fingers crossed.

thanks
DMAC

Check out the Ovation forum at the Ovationfanclub site. There is a member (Dan) who can create saddles with his 3D printer, with supposedly even better intonation than the originals. The custom shop in New Hartford also has spare parts, but they are slowly running out of some.

just curious, is this something that a qualified repairman could make? I have had many saddles made for non-Ovation guitars, always worked ok. Is there something different about Ovations?

Cool

Yes very different. Usually they are part of the Piezo pickup assembly, but I think can also be further taken apart.

I had a tuning machine fail on my old 1980's Ovation 12 string several years ago (10 - 15 years back). I contacted Ovation through their website and got a personal reply in short order. They sent me a replacement tuner for free.

For the older ones that you cannot get and have the embedded pickup, I have made solid bone saddles to replace them with. You should be able to find a local luthier to make that part

To get the electronics working again with the new bone saddle, i have made thin wood shims that sit under the bone saddle and encompass a standard martin flat piezo pickup.

Just a question from someone who's not the OP, as there seems to be some hope of a replacement. Would the fill the too grooved B string bridge notch with a mix of epoxy and powdered bridge material, and if necessary, renotch after it sets tactic work here?
