Smile Custom Santa Cruz Guitar

Had some initial reservations about ordering a custom guitar when a musician friend of mine said "You need to try a million guitars before buying one". I thought that sounded a bit backwards...why wouldn't I want to specify exactly what I wanted (assuming I could afford to do that)? His response was "if it's not in your hands, how would you know it's exactly the one for you"?

Caution thrown to the wind...I ordered the guitar exactly as I wanted it built....waited...and waited...and then finally, I picked the exact pieces of koa that I wanted (and let me say it took a few to get exactly the one I wanted, and SCGC was patient with me saying "we'll find the one you're looking for). A bit more waiting (like they say, all good things take time). Got a call from Carolyn saying "I think I have the one"...and it was perfect. Gave them the green light!

I got a call from my local guitar store and they said "guess what just came in"...tires screeching out of my driveway.

Not only was I particular in what I wanted the guitar to look like, but even more so in how it plays. I have arthritis and love to play acoustic. I specified a short scale OMG with Santa Cruz Guitar Low Tension strings. I was a little nervous that I'd be sacrificing tone for ease of play.

Let me say that these folks delivered on EVERY SINGLE aspect of what I wanted. They nailed it. The guitar plays amazing and looks even better...not to mention responsibly harvested wood and a great experience from start to finish. If you can afford to buy a guitar you'll keep the rest of your life, I'd highly recommend it.

Pictures coming...as soon as I can figure out how....

Default Can't wait for the pics!

As an impatient type, I admire those of you that know exactly what you want and are willing to wait for it. This sounds like a spectacular guitar.

If you would like, email me pics and I will post them for you.

Congrats!
