That is a bummer! I hope that the second one is perfect. By the way, the Guitar Center in San Fran is on Van Ness Ave. so, maybe it was shipped from that store.
Best,
Jayne

That was either a return under their return policy, or pulled out of stock at a GC.

Send it back.

Stay away from these guys.

There are several definitions of "new".

Player's: absolutely pristine, it came from the factory yesterday
Store: never sold before
Shady Store: still under warranty

Yeah it was a HuGE bummer. All that anticipation and then it's like *hold everything*.

Well, MF sent me a return label the next day and I promptly packaged it back up and sent it. I still definitely want this guitar, (now even more so!) so I placed my faith in them by repeating the order, their phone rep apologized profusely and told me that I should:

"....be assured that the next one we send you will be untouched and brand new direct from the factory since it is currently back-ordered until early June"

I just hope that this same guitar doesn't somehow end up finding its way back to me. *fingers crossed*

UPDATE:

I received my new shipment just this weekend - yay!!!!

A few observations though from this particular shipment:
  • The guitar was shipped from a Guitar Center store address about a 30 minute drive from my house.
  • New Guild arrived packed really well.
  • No SWAG - unlike the previous cracked top shipment - this guitar was not packed with the Guild cloth baggie of freebies (truss rod wrench, branded picks, and catalog) - it was just the guitar only - not a big deal, just an observation really
  • The protective plastic layer was still tightly stuck onto the pickguard

Cheers to my first "new" guitar in over 20 years!!!!!

NEW guitar ......finger prints and pick guard scratches? Even tho they made it right, I would question this with upper management.

Should have come with the truss rod wrench. Call GC, or Guild.

I called GUILD directly - and they immediately opened a ticket for me. I got confirmation today that they're sending out the "goodie bag" to me right away.

thanks for the advice!
