Default NGD - New Taylor K14ce-V Builder's Edition: Case Recommendations.

Hello,

I was fortunate to acquire this new beauty:

I now would like to get a high in case such as a Hiscox. I have a few questions I am sure this esteemed group can help me with:

1. What is the best size Hiscox to go with for Taylor X14 models (I believe the dread case says it covers 90%?

2. How would you rank the different models?

Any other cases to consider... I have this Taylor K-14ceV, Gibson Humming Bird, & Martin Dc28e and would like a case that would work for all of them is possible.

Thanks for your help.

Congrats! Your picture link doesn't work though.

I have a couple Ameritage cases I like.

Apparently, pictures are beyond my skills. I've tried posting links from a few sites.

Does it have the silent satin finish and rounded body lines?

I played the 614ce Builders version on Wednesday and that is the most comfortable guitar I've ever felt. I LOVE the silent satin finish! The arm rest combined with the rounded body lines is Andy's finest work, in my opinion.

Hiscox makes a GA shape for Furch. Call and see if they can send you one. (Not sure if exact size)

Congrats on a beautiful guitar. I’m not particularly a Taylor guy, but that K14 is the most beautiful guitar I’ve ever played, and it sounded wonderful too.

Can’t recommend a case size, but I have both Hiscox Pro 2 and Artist series cases. Both are excellent. If you don’t mind spending the extra money, the Artist feels a little more bombproof. But the Pro 2 is nice as well. Both have been in a few airplane cargo holds and have been just fine. I’ve tried many cheaper cases, and none held a candle to either Hiscox.

Tell us about the K14! What are your impressions?

Beautiful, congrats! I have a K24ce on the way, should be here Tuesday and I cannot wait! I keep refreshing the FedEx page in the hope that it somehow changes to being here today!

What do you think about the Gotoh tuners? Are they are worthwhile upgrade since mine will have the standard Taylor tuners?

I’ve upgraded two guitars to Gotoh tuners from Standard Taylor tuners and it’s a huge improvement in both looks and tuning. They’re very precise and super smooth. I’d say go for it.

The tuners are great and smooth. The rounded corners simply ‘feel’ nice. Not really sure if this truly ergonics or mental .

The wife likes it too. Usually guitars hang upstairs in the music room, this guy is hanging in the living room which makes it more accessible to play on a whim.

I am not very sophisticated from an evaluation point of view. I pretty much just pick up and play. I certainly have found instruments poor or bad. However, once they move into the good category, they all just love there. I don’t really categorize ‘good, better etc.’

It’s well put together, great to look at and a joy to play. Currently my playing has doubled. I fine the tone clear and the sustain to be really good. Still on the first set of strings.

I find it makes me want to ‘crank’ on it strumming and have noticed a few pick marks (which) usually don’t have. So next item to get will be a clear pick guard.

Lately, I’ve been focused on robust strum/muting to the Peggy Sue chords. It seems oddly well suited to that.

Hope that helps.
