Default Opinions on a guitar to leave at work.

Before anyone suggests it, I know a carbon fiber guitar would be perfect. But out of my budget and I only work 10 24 hour shifts a month, so I'd hate to leave an expensive guitar up here at work. Now the issue is my office in the winter has a humidity level around 25%. Its wreaked havoc on my Martin Jr. and Taylor 110. So far I'm thinking a GS Mini or an all HPL Martin. I do keep it in a hard case with soundhole humidifiers. I also don't want to bring it from home every shift because of the frigid temps. Thanks

I keep a GS-mini in my office pretty much permanently. Humidity isn't that low so not as worried about that part of it.

You can use any guitar you want in a hard-shell case with a waterbead/soapdish humidifier. If it's really dry at work, you might have to recharge the waterbeads every couple of weeks. Here in NY, I started with them around Dec 1, I'll recharge in January sometime and then again around the end of Feb. That's all it takes.

Yamaha FS/FG 800. I used to leave an FG700S at school (work) all year long. Now I lug a Yamaha A1M back and forth.

I've kept a GS Mini in my office for the last seven years. Great stress reliever.

My work guitar is an ancient (2010) Emerald X7. Maybe it's excessive, but it's nice to not have to worry about it being bothered by the HVAC.

I currently have a $200 Fender CP-60S parlor guitar at work. It's a nice guitar for the money but it's not going to kill me if something happened to it. It's also my camping guitar for the same reason.

I envy those with jobs where you can just chill and pick guitar if you feel like it! I work 12 hour shifts at a power plant and there is always work to do - test and maintain equipment, take readings, respond to weather or plant changes, compile data and reports, respond to questions from management and the regulators, plan upcoming work, schedule tools, parts and people....

They pay me well but I have to work for it!

I’m a firefighter, I have plenty of time to sit and play. But I earn my pay when I have to work.

Perhaps look for a good deal on a used carbon fibre?

I recently purchased one, partly for the ability to bring it back and forth to work here in Canada without too much of a problem sorta thing, not have to worry about temps/humidity, etc...

The other big reason being that I want to leave it on the stand at all times at home for "walk by noodling"...Not have to de-case every single time etc...

Cheers

Even better if you can find it used. Pay so little (whatever that might be in your budget) that you're not crushed if the worst happens.

Yesterday I saw a used Ovation in near-perfect condition for $80. Might work...

Otherwise, a used $100 Yamaha would do it for me.
