I'm also enjoying all of the new space this 'loss' has given me in my new music room.

A good thing.

Nothing wrong with getting the guitars you dream about. I'm all for that!

For me, I wanted to keep one incredible large body and one incredible small body.

I had a lot of great guitars, but they didn't all get the time they deserved and some were better than others.

It was difficult, but I'm glad I did this.

So how many pianos will you have then????

I've kept 2 electrics - a Strat and a Tele, all with special pickups (Vaughan Skow).

The next project - I have 5 mandolins, and I want to move 2 on.

Then I will be where I need to be.
Which music store was this, if you don't mind my asking. May be shedding some of mine too...

I use The Music Zoo. They are near me (I'm in Massapequa Park, NY and they are in Farmingdale, NY, about 5 miles away).

I know the owner and most of the folks that work there. They are honest and reliable, and I've been using them for many years to sell instruments.

I recommend them.

https://www.themusiczoo.com/

I am sure that the AGF has sponsors who will more than gladly consign instruments as well.

I'm at 4 and would like to get down to 2 - but I'd take a bath on the two that I would sell .....which I can't bring myself to do just yet.

Plus, I REALLY fancy an SJ200......

And a D28.....

And....

I may be there soon.

I'm at three acoustics now. (I'm not including my electric and an old parlor that I keep because "it's been the family.")

I play the two steel-strings regularly and the third, in spite of my best intentions when I purchased it a few years ago...I wanted a nylon string guitar...I rarely play. I'm thinking it would be happier in the hands of someone who would appreciate it more.

I'll make a final decision after the Holidays.

I hear this sentiment a lot from older pickers. I've got three to unload right now. I had a beloved M36 I just was not playing. Had it for 25 years. Sold it to a friend. I've gone to dreads for the most part.

My problem is I have many other instruments, dobro, uke, mandolins, electric and acoustic basses. Even if I pared down to one of each, I'd still have a roomful.

I certainly hear that.

I still have 5 mandolins - ALL good ones.

That being said, I've marked 2 that will be leaving soon.

I'm finding a lot of pleasure in just having the 'go to' of each type I have, and none of the "Well, it's beautiful" or "I'm lucky to have it, even if I don't play it a lot."

And YEP - I'm an 'older picker'!

I am down to 2. One is a Fender Dreadnaught that was my first guitar given to me by my wife for my birthday. The other is a Blueridge BR-43. I like them both. However, I might get a Martin 000-18 when I feel I can make it sound like it is supposed to. The Christmas sales have been a terrible temptation, though.

I've kept a Huss & Dalton DS-M 12 fret (first one they made), and I've kept a Froggy Bottom P12, Bastogne Walnut b/s, adi top.

It's actually a great feeling!
Just wait until you get down to one, that's an even better feeling!

I think I would miss having different tone woods. Each one has its own advantages.
