My Audix usage is:

Om-2 - flutes and whistles (wedges)
Om-3xb - male vocals with a "strained" raspy (pop/rock) voice that needs some warmth and solidity in the midst but clear and controlled top (IEM)
Om-7 - male vocals with more open, chesty (folk/country) voice. Lots of rich low notes (wedges). Also, chesty female blues and solo Irish trad.

Om-5 - misc unexpected, great at most things but not as well suited to these individuals.

How would you compare the om-5 to the Heil pr-35.??
for those that have used both.

As it turns out, I'll be playing the showcase where OM5s are employed tomorrow night. My choice will be to drop the low notes or be that "special" person who brings his/her own mic. I've endured that scenario from both sides of the fence. Looks like I'll be going "bottomless" tomorrow night

PS I got to the event and a sub host was there with his SM58s. Its a fairly quiet setting so the SM58 were quite adequate with respect to feedback rejection. They also handled the low notes well (as evidenced by my video). The SM58 is a cardioid pattern mic which has more proximity effect than the OM5, so that no doubt helped.

I just used my OM5 on gigs last night and this past Saturday night. I absolutely LOVE this mic on my voice! So clear, so low mid mud free!
