My First Falcate Lounge Guitar
I started my new year with something rare for me, a recording. I thought I would busk it here and if anyone throws money in the hat please make sure you send a percentage to Larry Pattis as it is his arrangement of Waltzing Matilda.
Locally grown African Mahogany back, sides and neck. Cooktown Ironwood fretboard. EIR bridge and headstock. Corian nut and saddle. Sitka Spruce top. Falcate braced, non live back (reflective) 13inch lower bout, 18inch body, 14fretter, Fender scale. Waltzing Matilda, Larry Pattis arrangement on Soundcloud The recording is dry with no effects, just the guitar, USB mic and PC (Audacity). That is not the sound of the Australian bush in the background it is the Darwin burbs as heard from my shed. In the photo there is a tornavos but that was not in the guitar when recorded. Jim |

Thanks for working on and sharing my arrangement of Matilda, Jim. You've got all the right pieces in all the right places...keep making it smooth, and keep making it yours...slow-and-sure wins the race.
Thanks again, and all the very best,

Have a look through THIS THREAD Arie as it has photos of falcate bracing.
My pleasure Larry, such a lovely arrangement of our (should be) national anthem. Sure, slow is me, not sure sure is quite me though when it comes to playing. Did you notice that the cicadas decided to build up their pace right at the end, then as if I had asked them faded out. I had tried to pick a lull in their choir but they had to have their say. Thanks Acoustic P.M. always nice to get that sort of feedback on the instrument. Jim |
