Classic Vibe Discontinued
Confirmed at my local shop.
Fender's CV series is DC. If you can find a CV Tele, get it now! |

Are you sure? I thought I saw elsewhere that they were replacing the rosewood fretboards with Indian laurel wood this year. Maybe it’s just the rosewood discontinued.

It is possible that the classic vibe is affecting MIM sales a bit too much.

If they are discontinuing it, that could be. Great guitars for the money.

Are you talking the Squier "Classic Vibe" series, or the Fender "Classic" series??

Hmm. Interesting, as those have been a pretty hot item, and the best of the Squier line. Nothing reflected on the Squier website yet.

I take back my previous comment, sometimes the most obvious answer is the right one. I think they’re simply not selling. Think about it, the CV is a hot item to us enthusiasts because we see a lot of value for $400. But $400 can be a bit too much when a Bullet is $150, and the Affinity series is $200, and the Deluxe is what I believe is the top end spot for budget buyers at $300-350. The CV is in a tough spot at the near $500 mark, and that could be too much for the average buyer since for $150-200 more, you get the Fender logo on the headstock. |

Another factor could be the fact that they are updating the fender Mexican standard line to the the fender player series. They now will include alnico 5 pickups which was always one of the complaints of the current Mexican standards and one reason why many people preferred the cv over them.
That reason is gone now and would further limit demand for the CVs. |

Its back. My contact at the store was young and wrong and telling it not as it is.

They are probably one of THE best guitar models that Squier/Fender has put out. I have two Strats, a 50's CV and a 60's CV. Just recently found a NOS purple one. I will take a picture this week and show you. Got a Tele on my buy list!
