I would keep the beater, sell the nicer. That way, even though it isn't for the money, you'll get more money and be left with your favorite guitar. Should you feel the need for something a little nicer, you'll have the money to purchase it.

Sorry, Doug you are passing judgement without the facts and are wide of the mark ! Thankyou everyone for your thoughts , the beater will stay.

Since you like them both, which one will be the easiest to repurchase once sellers remorse kicks in? Sell that one.

I recently parted with five guitars. It was a mixed lot some old some newer, some in perfect playing condition, others more project guitars and such. There was one though I let go of that I was not sure I wanted to bid farewell to. But to seal one of the deals which involved a trade I had to include it. My goal now is stick to a two out for one in rule. So far I have acquired two guitars which means if I am to stay true to my goal, one more will have to go if I want something else. And for better or worse that one is supposed to make an appearance here as soon as the owner gets it back from the shop.

Actually, now I am used to the idea of losing one, the idea of a cull is beginning to appeal. It s maybe an age thing , but Im starting to feel that I need no more than a couple of guitars, the aforementioned beater and one of the " better" ones.

Guessing this isn't an option but is there a way you can get rid of those two guitars but before that happens find something you prefer over both of them that costs less than or equal to your more expensive guitar? I wonder if your more expensive guitar just isn't a good fit for you where another one might be that gives you more than your beater does.

That aside, I'm a big fan of beaters. I wouldn't let the pride of name brand ownership impact my judgement on what guitar I like the most.

The question I'd be asking myself is, do I own guitars to make music, or because I'm proud of owning them? To me, the answer is obvious. [emoji4]

I had the same exact hunch as Doug, and yes, I did read the OP. [emoji4]

I think the better assessment of Doug’s post was that his opinion missed the mark, not that he was “passing judgement”.

And this is why I don’t comment on things I have no information on, such as “which guitar should I sell, or which one should I buy.” What help is commenting on guitars you’ve never played?

And when you do, it’s likely you’ll miss the mark like Doug.

Well guys let me put this to rest by mentioning the non guitar related boring domestic part that I wasnt going to mention ! We moved house to one far smaller where I could no longer have a dedicated music room. The compromise was to have a large expensive wall cupboard of English Oak to keep my music related stuff in, out of sight and mind when the room was used for something else. Ive accumulated more music related things than I realised, it all didnt fit, and it was my decision to lose a guitar because I try to be a man of my word, and I had already said this cupboard would suit my needs. I told you it was domestic and boring!
