SOLD Schertler Open Gear 3+3 Tuners
Set of Schertler open gear tuners taken from my Steve Fischer Concerto. Satin chrome with ebony buttons. 18:1 gear ratio. Excellent condition. I just purchased a new set of gold with ebony buttons to replace them.
These sell for $124.95 at StewMac plus tax and shipping. Yours shipped for $90.

Would you happen to know if the screw hole alignment is the same on these as Waverlys? I've heard great things about these tuners, but don't want to plug and re-drill to install them.

Unfortunately Mike I can’t find the screw hole and peg location dimensions for the Schertler. Here is the Waverly however. I’ll keep looking....
On second look you would need to do some modifications.

A) the shaft on the Schertler is two steps - there is a wider "collar" at the base where it meets the plate. That won't fit in the standard "vintage" ream. You'd need to widen just the under side of the ream. B) the screw holes don't line up, they are both "north" of the standard Waverly holes. These tuners are exceptional and they are the ULTIMATE upgrade for Taylors, for which they can drop into the normal Taylor route and then you'd drill pilots for the mounting holes and the whole thing will cover the holes that Taylor tuners have hiding under the housing. I've upgraded a couple Taylors with them and they are way, way better than the stock taylors. They also fit in standard reams for Grover Rotomatics and similar threaded collar style reams, the holes don't line up, but are covered (in most cases). |

Thanks for the info guys - this is kind of what I figured. I have added Waverlys to a few guitars that were either drop in replacements or required drilling an additional screw hole and reaming the post hole. Every review on this forum of these tuners has been very positive, so I figured this might be a good way to try them on one of my Waverly equipped guitars. Oh well - Good Luck with your sale!

Local luthier Todd Stock put these tuners on a guitar he built for a friend of mine and they are fantastic. Look sharp too.

These Schertlers are fantastic tuners - I wouldn’t recommend removing good tuners just to try something better, but if you got bad tuners, these would be worth the effort to retrofit -
