Love it! I can't tell if it's black or brown. Was the Bigsby aftermarket?

I’ve owned Pre CBS Fenders, ES 335’s, Custom Shop Fenders, Gretches...

But none of them come even close to my 1960 Harmony Meteor w/Bigsby. Unmatched TONE with those old DeArmond “Gold Foil” pups! It’s the only electric I want to play from here to the finish line.

I've had 3 previous #1s and am now on my third #1. I'm a number one type of guy. One guitar for the whole show just like Jerry Garcia and many others. I have no desire to constantly be switching up guitars song after song and personally I don't like seeing guitarist do that when I watch them play. I love to see the guitarist handle the whole set with one guitar besides switching out for an alternative tuning or something.

Here's a question for all of you that play live in a loud band especially if you switch guitars up. Do you change you tones, pickups etc? I have found over the last 25+ years of playing live that I tend to stick to the same pickup position, which is the middle position on my Music Man Axis SS and leave it be besides going to the bridge for a distorted solo. I have found that the subtleties of the different pickups don't come across very well in the live bar setting. I've even changed up my live tone to accommodate the bar setting. The tone I have live, is not the tone I'd play with when I'm by myself playing through my rig. It's not the best or warmest in a solo setting but live it works the best. I turn up my mids and decrease my bass to find a frequency that cuts through in the bar setting. It also allows me to turn down the amp a little. I used to have to crank my amp to even hear myself but I found I was swimming in frequencies that I needed to steer clear of.

So yes I play a #1 and a #1 only which is a Music Man Axis SS. For the past 22 years it was a PRS Custom 22 and for 4 years before that it was a Tele and before the Tele it was an Ibanez Sabre. I sold the Sabre for the Tele but still keep the Tele and PRS on stand by for a backup. Typically for a show I'll bring the MM and the PRS. PRS stays in the case until needed but it's tuned up and ready to go.

Don't have a true #1. I have a lot of guitars that I like, some that I love, and some that will be going elsewhere. I think that's not unusual. But my #1 guitar with my electric band is a Lone Star Strat. I find myself using all the time with those guys, but I never play it at home. It's super versatile with its HSS pickup config: 2 Texas Specials and a Pearly Gates in the bridge. I play lots of different guitars at home, lately it's been an American Std Tele or an Epiphone Johnny A, which I like very much.

Fairly often but not as much as I should.
Summer here in the High Rockies is such a busy time (even for a retired guy)
And this summer between trying to get this new large piece of property in more horse friendly shape (mowing sage etc.) and starting on building a new riding arena, then fly fishing, practicing for the weekly "acoustic only, open mic" etc.etc.,,,,, time is at a premium

But it still try to get in a couple 3 hours a week

My #1 is my PRS McCarty 594. I've owned probably 200 guitars in my 52 years of playing. The 594 seems to combine the best features of all the guitars I've loved into one package.

I still have four Gibson SG's I won't part with though. I agree with Dru that the SGJ is an incredible guitar for the money. Mine has an Emerson 50's wiring kit and sounds great.

hey Dru! it's Wine Red, (albeit a very dark wine red)..

The Bigsby was after the fact, I installed it using a vibrate V7 kit, so if I ever want to, it goes back to all stock in a matter of 20 minutes.

That's right, you have a PRS with the Surpro! That's all you need.

I also have 2 other Gibson SGs in addition to my SGJ (Standard, '50s Tribute with P90s). For such a simple build SGs sound and play great. What are your SGs?
