That’s a good choice. The players that first come to my mind (Clapton, Hendrix, SRV) all battled drug or alcohol addiction and died early or suffered some other tragedy. Chet is the king, Tommy, Vince, Jerry (Reid), and Glen are amazing, yet as a singer/song writer myself, I'd have to go with George Harrison.
