It's been a couple of weeks, Rocky. How did you make out with your new high E string? I am constantly bending my E, B, and G strings a full step (2 frets) constantly on many electrics and they never break. You may have had a bad string or a sharp 15th fret.

Back in the '80s my first electric used to snap a couple of A strings a year. Hard to believe but I didn't realize it was an issue with a sharp bridge. Actually, that Series A snapped strings all over.

Once you've figured out the issue, OP, you might want to invest in sets of strings with two high E's in them... makes breakages a little easier to bear. Or buy singles, so you're not fretting (sorry) about breaking them.
