Very sorry to hear it. 17 minutes is awful close for comfort I can somewhat relate

In the High Park fire a few years back
Although we did not loose the house. Both my son in law and I were riding our Harleys out ( the last of vehicles that we got out)
As we were exiting our 500 ft driveway at about 3:45 am. the fire was just starting to burn down from the top of a sage brush covered hill about 200 yards away. And the light grey ash particles from the burning sage were in our head lights (just like driving in a blizzard in winter at night ) but it was 75-80 F very surreal

Thanks everyone for the thoughtful comments. We are well covered for homeowners insurance and Safeco is treating us well. They started out by counseling us that the next one to two years of our lives will be much different as we work through a rebuild or relocate.
