It's just a shame the B/W Ebony doesn't stay white when finished. That would look spectacular.

Just hijacking this thread for a moment to say (again!) that I am ecstatic about my John Kinnaird 000 in Cedar/Pau Santo. Every day I ask myself: are ALL John's guitars this awesome, or did I just get REALLY lucky? If your Hawaiian customer needs a testimonial, John, I'm your guy. I am sure this ebony guitar will be dynamite.

Thank you kindly Quote:

picking the green
James wants green lines on this guitar.
considering the general color scheme I have three possibilities for your consideration malichite recon stone, which has a lot of blue overtones or perhaps a wood veneer in light green or perhaps a darker green

The blue is a little too solid looking, and the darker green is just a little Meh...

Oh boy...everyone's going to have an opinion, and I don't know that you'll get a great consensus, but I like the darker green. It's got enough character to show, not too much that it steals the show.

I personally think it looks fantastic as it is after the finishing. If a little extra $$$ came my way, I would commission a custom guitar and would specify black and white ebony for the stunning aesthetics.

Another vote for the darker green--I would even go darker towards a forest green if that was an option. Enough to contrast with the binding but dark enough to bring out a richer tone.

Aloha Black and White
I like the the light/bright green veneer. It will look great with the ebony.
The Hawaiian Islands are a work of Art so this guitar will fit right in. |

COOL guitar!! Can't wait to see how it progresses
Here's the order if it were mine: 1) malichite recon stone---very cool, unique, and I LOVE the blue hue of the stone 2) lighter green 3) darker green I agree with everyone and yet the stone is unique and personally I really like blue with what will be a more "yellow" tone wood. The lighter green has some more distinct "pop" factor, and yes the darker green does have more of the understated which definitely also has appeal.
