Pink Ivory Grand Concert
Just a few pics of the pink ivory guitar I'm taking with me to the show. I was very surprised by the wood. The smell is as great as the color too. Very aromatic and sweet smelling. The tone came out great. Very balanced and versatile. Plus the colors and overall feel of it really set it apart from a "normal" guitar. I love it.
The medallion inlay was done by Craig Lavin. Last edited by JohnM; 08-09-2011 at 12:27 PM. |

Wow!!! That thing is beautiful. I don't know that I've ever see that wood before. It's pretty incredible.

Thanks. The wood is not stained or dyed in anyway. Totally natural! One of the most rare woods in the world. Normally never gets large enough for guitars.

I'm really looking forward to seeing that one John, its just awesome. I don't think I have ever seen or played pink ivory wood before. How would you describe its tonal color? See you tomorrow.

I am really lucky that I purchased a piece of Pink ivory that is highly figured and is 40" x 8" x 2" so I should get a few sets out of it. I did pay quite a lot for the piece but looking at your GC I think its worth it! All the best Daz |

Thanks Tim. Working it the wood felt like maple, but heavier. Tonally I think it's more well rounded than maple. Although with only one guitar built from the stuff there isn't a large pool of experience to pull from. But if I had to choose a wood it reminded me of I'd say maple with some qualities of walnut. |
