No worries, I love the top! I like that it has some darker bands in it; not totally homogenous. I’m pretty sold on redwood now—very glad I got those mineshaft beams!

Chris, I love the burl in that rosette. Is that Thuja or buckeye, or something else? Very unique fretboard choice too! I have been thinking about a desert ironwood fretboard, or something else variegated.

It’s spalted amboyna burl, which I believe grows on the Narra tree in Papua New Guinea. This particular section had a lot of visual interest—I’ve got some sister cuts of it that could be used for future guitars.

The ironwood fretboard would probably work — and it could look really cool! Just need to find a reasonable size piece...

Narra is the national tree of the Philippines. It's odd that the straight-grained part sold as narra is relatively inexpensive for an imported wood. But the burlwood is called amboyna and is probably one of the most expensive burls!

You know I want some of that mineshaft redwood, Chris! Seasoned in a mine for 100+ years?! Awesome. I have found, like most folks, that redwood is hit or miss, but when it's good it is terrific (in my opinion).

Here are some final pics. My client promises some sound clips pretty soon! I'm really happy with this one; everything worked together nicely. This old sitka and some nice east Indian in the 00.5 body are awesome!

It’s brazilian rosewood from a stash of very old pool cue blanks. About a dozen are still intact and I’ve started to make 7-8 piece backs with them with multi piece laminated sides, bridges, bindings etc. I have a bunch of sister cut bridges like that. Here are some slices next to each other...

Thanks! I need to find someone to make me a cue sometime with one... not that I have a table or play often!
