Martin 000-28 cocobolo/Sitka: Sold
I am the original owner of this Martin 000-28 custom purchased from Wildwood Music and selected it after several hours playing many instruments. The guitar is in excellent condition. I added a Prouxl pick guard chosen specifically to match the color of the cocobolo and changed the pins to bone with tortoise dot rather than black dots. This guitar also has the traditional Martin stamp on the back of the headstock. The major features that distinguish it from a standard 000-28: cocobolo back and sides, Adirondack Golden Era forward shifted lighter bracing of a fine Sitka top made in the Custom shop.
It has a 1 3/4" nut and the Low Oval carve neck, very comfortable Traditional Martin "Diamond-and Squares" long pattern fret markers For comparison sake, I have owned many guitars including a Martin OM-28 and a 000-28H. The OM-28 is louder and better for strumming. It was a really nice guitar, but I like short scale. The 000-28H had the narrow 1 11/16" neck which I personally like, bracing like the 000-28EC so in between the standard 000-28 and more expensive EC. I found it a bit boxy but otherwise liked it a lot. The lighter bracing on this one may account for the better sound on this one. There are plenty of others that have come and gone, but these are to closest and most common examples others might identify with. This guitar is lightly braced like the OM-28 but with the short scale. And the cocobolo brings a more distinct clarity than perhaps EIR in the same guitar would give. Offers and trades
Would also be open to certain trades. Maybe a trade towards older Martin, specifically 60s or earlier 000-21 or 28. Even trading down might be a possibility. It doesn’t hurt to ask!

bump for offers and trades.
Very nice guitar and in this market glut, I like many, have too many. Open to offers. Good opportunity for someone upgrading, wanting to try something different. Much better to buy used than new!
For comparison sake, I have owned many guitars, too many but these include a Martin OM-28 and a 000-28H. This all over several years of course. I also have had a Collings OM2G. I didn't like it much. Bright, loud, but boxy. I know, you may say, "what?!" Maybe it's just me. I have had three other Collings none of which I would describe in this way. Yes, I do like them, just like Martins better in general. Hopefully some comparing might help if someone is on the fence. This guitar is lightly braced like the OM-28 but with the short scale. And cocobolo which brings a more distinct clarity than perhaps EIR in the same guitar would give. |
