Default The MacNichol Forum: R.I.P

Sadly, the MacNichol Forum seems to be no more as of 2015 10 16.

Anyone have inside info they'd like to pass on?

Are there any further plans to continue in another venue as was once discussed, or is it simply finished?

Just curious.

I have no more info, but as a once frequent visitor, it has a special place for me on my CF and guitar travels and I met some great personalities there, both online and in person. But it has been very quiet with just a handful of regulars since Michael closed his shop. I'm sad it's gone (if indeed it has and it's not just a technical glitch) but it's a shadow of it's former self and I'm just glad I was there in its heyday.

He's a guy who did everything right as far as I'm concerned, so it is, indeed, sad. I am hoping that he'll have great success with the bridge pins he now sells.

There were a few people working on a 'replacement' but haven't heard anything for awhile. I truly hope this is a short term glitch and a version of this great resource is back available soon. Sigh.....

I used to frequent the MacNichol Carbon Guitar Forum back in 2008-2010 as RainDance. I enjoyed conversing with the folks on the forum and one of our biggest achievements was to compel the pre-Peavey Composite Acoustics to more closely monitor the neck-angle and neck relief of their guitars. CA even went as far as to include an inspection card with each guitar that listed the neck-relief value and I believe also action height at the twelfth fret. Kind of sad to see the MacNichol Carbon Guitar Forum pass. All The Best Michael!

That's too bad. Thank you Michael, for all you have done as a pioneer in the promotion of carbon fiber guitars.

There certainly was talk of the site being taken over. I have a feeling that something is in the works. I say, stay tuned for a new site to emerge. Just a hunch.

Michael, I never got to meet you. Since moving to Boise, I had been planning a sojourn to your shop, just for the rare opportunity to play several brands of CF guitars in one place. But medical issues put the kibosh on my road trips for a couple of years, until right around the time you announced the closing of your shop. I looked at your forum occasionally and it was nicely done and a friendly environment.

Thank you for your efforts, and best wishes in your future endeavors.

Having gotten a few carbon fiber guitars from MacNichol, and spent a lot of time lurking on the forum there, I'll miss it...but maybe it'll liven up the carbon forum here??

My thoughts exactly. I'd find my self double posting here and there sometimes, and it seemed like there was so much crossover between the 2 communities. It makes sense to have it in one place, but it's sad to see it go.

Now we gotta keep this section of the forum alive. Everyone start posting about CF guitars, or else I'll have to talk about my stupid complaints with my Shorty some more, and I know nobody wants that.

Sorry. I know I'm an immature child, but I love that your new website has a section called "nuts".
