Default Anyone add a pickguard to their CF guitar?

I have a Rainsong CH-OM. It has no pickguard and everything on it is black. I have a clear removal pickguard, but it shows all kinds of bubbles. Anyway, for some contrast, I was thinking of adding a tortoise pickguard. I want it to be thin enough that it doesn't really impede the acoustic sound. Any thoughts?

Why do you want one? Just for looks?

Not just for looks, but would also like to keep the top from getting all scratched.

I didn't add it, but my WS-3000 came with a CF pattern pickguard on it.

I put a gloss black om Martin pg on my shorty. Keeps the top from getting worn were my hand slides. Guard gets scratched up instead and they come right off with no evidence of having been there.

I make my own out of static cling material and they have bubbles as you mention. The RainSong 12-fret design has only 18 frets and more distance between the soundhole and bridge, than a Martin 14-fret design. So for my playing I found I was hitting the top with a pick (at least at gigs) just about everywhere around the the sound hole all the way to the bridge. My initial pickguard was a pre-cut low tack Martin design and it was not long enough to cover all my scratching... Here's a picture of my static cling design:

Thanks so much for sharing these pics. Do you remember where you bought the Low Tack Martin design pickguard?

Thanks again.

I have this on the way, I think its the nicest guard I have seen on a Rainsong.

That is a nice shape for a pick guard.

This seller on ebay has sold blank sheets in the past (I've have a few) and you could contact him about that (I imagine someone knowledgeable in graphic design could spot this material and identify a bulk source).

I cut the soundhole with a razor compass

I have purchased two pickguards from Terrapin Guitars--one (tortoise) for a wooden guitar and a gloss black one for my RainSong Concert OM, which has the same unidirectional top as yours.

Mine is purely cosmetic. I'd bet you could buff out any scratches that appear in a carbon fiber top, and I play 100% fingerstyle anyway.

But I love the way it looks. Guitars just don't look finished to me without a pickguard. There's no effect on the sound that I can hear.

And Terrapin Guitars is totally solid. It does take 2-3 weeks to get the pickguard, and they don't send tracking. It just shows up in your mailbox. But they're both great pickguards, easy to apply, and they've stayed on very well.

Thanks so much, will definitely check Terrapin. I agree that guitars look unfinished w/o a pickguard.
Does the gloss black show up on the unidirectional top, and which shape did you use?

I appreciate everyone's responses, thanks!
