Default 2013 Christian Druery Custom OOO

***Guitar is SOLD***

2013 Druery Kauri OOO

I placed my Webber OO and Lakewood M-14 for sale several days ago; the Webber sold and although I had some nibbles on the Lakewood, it is still available. I have also decided to part with my custom Druery OOO and scale down to two guitars.

Sales price is $1,750.00. The guitar is about six months old and is in like new condition. The price is very reasonable for a new custom guitar. Not interested in trades. I can provide references on the forum and will expect the same from purchaser. You won’t be disappointed with this guitar.

For those who are unfamiliar with Christian Druery, he is a luthier in Kerikeri, New Zealand, website www.christiandruery.com. He has been building musical instruments for about 15 years.

Thanks for your consideration. Please PM with any questions.

Summary

The woods are all premium native New Zealand woods. Christian only uses timbers that are sustainably harvested or recycled. Simple and understated elegance that is very captivating. Every single construction element flows aesthetically through the guitar. The color and figure of the woods are very unique, and most appealing. The satin finish is different than other satin finishes I have seen…the details of the color and figure are not diminished at all. The neck is very comfortable and easy to play. It feels more like 1 & 3/4 inch nut. I had Christian model it after a David Webber neck profile.

The sonic attributes: excellent balance, note articulation, clarity, sustain, and conservative overtones. The overall tonality is towards the brighter side of the sound spectrum, but still balanced with a very solid bottom end. I also like the consistency of volume and intonation as you move up the neck…I don’t notice any drop off. Responds to a light touch, but can also be “spanked”, which produces a delightful midrange growl that is perfect for blues or old time rock and roll. The lower registers are really cool…bass notes are some of the fullest and most resonant I have heard, with a “presence” that is very pleasing.

Although this is a relatively small body guitar, it produces depth and volume that belie its dimensions…just like my Webber OO. This is a versatile guitar that adapts well to many styles of music. As a general reference point on the tonal spectrum, Heart Rimu falls somewhere between mahogany and walnut IMHO, but possesses its own unique voice. The Kauri comes standard with an “ergonomic” rounded arm bevel…it is very subtle but definitely adds a level of comfort.

These were the order specs:

• Kahikatea top – (New Zealand “spruce”… very similar to Adirondack.)
• Heart Rimu back and sides
• Rimu neck
• Heart Rimu head veneers with paua koru (native paua shell)
• Puriri fretboard and bridge (New Zealand teak wood)
• Kauri leaf sihouette soundport (image of the Kauri tree leaf)

• Medium brass fretwire
• Mitred joins
• Paua shell fretmarkers
• Wilkinson WJN05 tuners locking gold 1:19
• Bone nut and saddle
• Satin finish, satin neck
• Stagg Hardshell case
• Nut width 46mm 1 & 13/16"
• Scale length 632mm 24.9"
