44mm is darned close to 1 3/4 inches. Nobody asks for a wider nut than that on a steel-string guiar. I've just ordered an Orangewood Oliver Jr. with a 43mm nut. I might like it wider, but I can adjust.

If you get your wife an Orangewood Oliver or a Yamaha FS800, I'm pretty sure she'll be happy.

Thanks Jim. Now that I look at it, I was misremembering my sizes. I was thinking 44 mm was like a 1 11/16" nut but it's basically 1.75" like you said. Cool. The Oliver looks like a pretty safe bet.
