When solo, I can have trouble with a complicated intro or trying to fit a good lick in between verses. If it causes interference with the flow of the song or makes me lighten up my vocal intensity it just isn't worth it. Simple is then better, and I remember the only reason I am playing is to accompany my voice. Now if someone else is singing then oh yes so much fun to spice it up.
