Not everyone doing audio has all those needs.
Hi Frank
Please keep us appraised as to developers (including Apple) getting all the hardware to work with the plug-ins and software. OWC is a friend of ours with our laptops…

It never hurts to develop a relationship with the developers…some of them actually read and respond to email!

Sounds like your wiring diagram (and rig) resembles an Octopus for sure!!

Either way it I am thinking it will be a great music/video production tool, for many who are not doing major ( huge track count) audio or big video productions.
As we have noted the question will be how soon the 3rd party software we use will be supported ?

And then for iMac specifically if it will also be when the bigger screens come out ??

Though it's tempting to spring for the new iMac because it's fast,.. I'm holding off for the M2 or M1X or whatever Apple will call the more powerful chip.

The humorous thing is the lowly M1 chip w/ 8GB already blows away both my 27" 2017 iMac and my 2018 MBP.

To add more humor,.. I checked my two (perfectly fine) machines for Apples trade-in program. Turns out they'd be happy to help me recycle. Both are apparently too old to be considered for a trade-in.

I expect the new 16" MBP will be out this year w/ the M2 chip. That may be where I jump in.

I got my current iMac in October 2017 so I'm good for another 4-5 years minimum, however, if the new M2 with the larger screen comes out and they get it firing on all cylinders with ProTools, I could jump early ...or maybe by then I'll be waiting for the M4 or M5.

Ha !! yes "You can't outrun electronic development "
Yes my new iMac I got in December could well work for another 10 years
(like the 2010 Mac Pro it replaced which actually still works fine)
But honestly the only disappointment I have with it, is the Fan noise when Turbo Boost kicks in.... Now I have downloaded the Turbo Switcher app, so I can turn it off when recording audio -- BUT Luckily the fan noise is mostly only noticeable when rendering video.. That said had I known Apple was going to develop their silicon so quickly I could have held off for another year and just kept running Mojave until then. But so it goes
