Default "THE MANGO TREE"… Jeffrey Yong's Healdsburg 2013 Build

This is Jeffrey Yong's build for the impending Healdsburg Guitar Festival in August 2013. I reckon it to be a head turner.

I don't think I like the look of the top, but the back looks awesome. Definitely a head turner!

I really like the back and the 'bearpaw' top is unique.

That's a wild top alright - eager to see it under finish. I assume both the top and back are mango wood?

Absolutely Mango. I am looking forward to see the rosette because I saw something radical when Jeff was mocking up the rosette design. It is still in the making… will update you guys as things unfold.

Looks like tree tops on the top. I would put a few birds in there.

Wow, when I first looked at the pics I thought part of the wood had been stained but that is the natural color. I can't wait to see the completed guitar - I really want to see how the top turns out.

I'm liking this rosette. It's kind of like a silhouette of a mountain scene at dusk. Nice.

THE MANGO TREE has grown…

For those may be keen to hear the tone of a full mango wood guitar, you can visit the below link. The mango guitar in the clip was built for the Tokyo Handcrafted Guitar Show, it is called the JJ Mango Special. Jeffrey Yong uses 99% hardwood on this guitar, actually in all his built which includes the top plate braces as well.

Unique design. Just curious, the leaves looked reddish before they were inlaid. Are those expected to appear more red under finish?

It has been a while… Jeffrey has made some good progress in "THE MANGO TREE". Pictures speak… check them out.

All prepared for spraying. I am really looking forward to see "THE MANGO TREE" comes to life.
