HELP - my Tele making a weird noise
Hi everyone, I hope y'all are having a great summer.
I recently purchased a Squire tele and now notice that every time I tap the pickguard in a certain spot it makes a popping/static noise. I removed the pickguard and noticed that the noise only occurs over where the body notch was routed for the pickup wiring runs to the tone/volume/pup switch selector assembly. Given that the pickguard is plastic, could a static charge be discharging to the wires below it? Is it a ground thing? I purchased the guitar because it plays incredibly well and I'm planning to upgrade the electronics. In the mean time, any suggestions as to the cause and remedy for the popping sound? As always, many thanks to all here. |

It may be a loose wire or dirty contacts. I had a p/u selector switch that did that. A friend of mine looked at it and sprayed some contact cleaner on it and it stopped making the noise. Good luck
My tele made weird noises everytime I played it. I finally discovered that it was my terrible playing
