John Prine, 73-----he's gone. The worst news I've got today. Going to take a looooong time to get over this loss!

Love and condolences to the family.

Default You GO, John! Our love is your jetstream.

John Prine has passed. April 7, 2020

I can't stop crying, and yet, I can't hold back the joy, for what he was to us.

Maybe someday those of us who are lucky and at least a little good-hearted, will see you in a gathering, singing songs to us, on the other side.

Love you John.

Sad, sad day. I first saw him on Public Television, playing guitar and singing at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. It was probably 1973, I was in high school, and I wondered who in the world was this guy.
All the years go by, I play guitar, I learn his songs. When my daughter is treated unfairly by friends, I sing her to sleep with John's songs. I try and find the ones that can touch her. Then two decades later, she and I go together to hear him at the Birchmere. This loss is as deep for her as for me.
My daughter likes to draw pigs having a fancy time at life. My avatar here is a picture she painted for me, "Piggy John Prine" clearly John in the '80s. It hangs on my wall. It watches me as I work virtually from home. John Prine is all in my life.
I feel so very badly for his family. The love they have and the way they have demonstrated what family means is inspirational to me and their pain has to run so very deep.
There is a hole in my heart.

His passing is sad, but certainly not unexpected... Considering the amount of his health troubles, it's amazing he kept performing for long as he did? John Prine was almost in a class by himself... RIP!

I hear you. One of my all time favorites from his first Album to Bruised Orange, The Missing Years and so many more. I will miss you John. You went thru so much health wise in the last years of your life. The music world is a little sadder tonight.

So sad - such a big loss to our world. Will be adding Angel from Montgomery to my play list.

Yes, unfortunately, true, Don.

Rhonda and I saw this coming, sad to say. I said my goodbyes Sunday. She's a retired RN who has worked a lot of hospice. The outlook for older patients who go on a ventilator is not good.

A very well-informed friend told me two days ago that the fatality rate for COVID-19 victims who go on ventilators is 80%. Add to this the number of health challenges John has had -- beating cancer twice, among other journeys -- and the hand-writing was on the wall.

One of the worst days of my life. John and Steve Goodman were the reason I started playing acoustic guitar fifty years ago.

RIP, Mailman.

We're so lucky to have had John Prine.

We'll all just keep singing your songs while you enjoy that cocktail and cigarette.
