MIM acoustic exhibit
At present the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) in Phoenix has an amazing exhibit of acoustic instruments on display. They are displayed and currated with video and print commentary about who has played them and how they are built. I heartily recommend this exhibit if you're in the area-and admission is only $10 for this exhibit (admission to the rest of the museum is more $, but who cares about instruments that aren't acoustic guitars, mandolins, etc. ) Here is a picture of one of the Loar archtop displays.

I spent 5 hours there last week. It was overwhelming, trying to absorb all that history on display. A first-class museum, it was much more than I expected.
Here's a few photos. First, Johnny Cash's D-35 and stage garb. 20240227_124126.jpg

Sorry about that...nope, nearly all the instruments on display are MIM (made in 'merica)

The Birthplace of Country Music Museum in Bristol, VA has a great display of acoustic instruments as well. It's also a very cool museum and a Smithsonian affiliate.

I went to the MIM a few years ago. That and the Frank Loyd Wright home and the Barrett-Jackson Car Auction are must sees.
