I'm gonna jump in this thread as I've just ordered a Halcyon NL-00. One of the best fingerpicking guitars, to my ear of course, was a Santa Cruz Model H which is a Nick Lucas style. I've usually stated that I wouldn't buy an acoustic guitar without playing it in person, but the opportunity to acquire a Nick Lucas style guitar (mine will be rosewood bodied like the Santa Cruz) and order a guitar built especially for me has caused me to suspend my previously held stipulation. I know it'll be awhile before I have it but I'm very stoked.

You should be stoked — my two favorite guitars are my Halcyon OM and my SCGC H13:-) I actually have the stock standard H13, which is Sitka/Mahogany. Very different guitars, but they share supremo playability and build quality. So, I'm actually thinking about a similar combo — sounds like you're looking at standard H model ? Sitka/RW with 14 fret?

Welcome to the family — look forward to hearing about your build.

Me, too!

By the way, I'm going with a torrefied Lutz top. In an email to Ed, automatic spell check changed it to terrified Lutz

Spill the beans on that build! Nice work on the NL00 shape. Purely based on looks it is one hot looking guitar. The raspy mid range kept me from going with that(purely personal preference), but I'm sure it'll be a killer guitar

To all folks stateside, the American dollar is currently smoking it's Canadian counterpart, to the tune of 1.3 Can to 1 U.S. Might not be a bad idea for anyone waiting on their build to pay down their balance. Hopefully this is helpful. I'm sure Ed wouldn't mind a random flux of cash either.

Looks like Ed has a small batch close to completion. The Rosewood with maple binding is mine. Shouldn't be too much longer!

Ed, how long does it usually take to put the finish on a guitar (how long do they get to hang out with their buddies on the painting room rack)

10-15 days, depending on what sort of other stuff is going on. It'll be towards the longer end this time as I'm taking a few days off next week to not even look at a guitar, but rather to muck about in the ocean instead...

So then the real question is...which guitar goes to the beach with you?
