Composite Acoustics Cargo Question
I just test drove a Cargo. I liked it a lot. Almost enough to buy it. It was the Raw without electronics. $799. However, the action was high and the store had only the floor sample. My questions: How can the action be lowered? Should the store discount the floor model? If so, what percentage?
thanks for your opinions. michael s. |

My Cargo has been great! Got it well over a year ago - has Fishman Matrix electronics in it. If you're looking for good price, you may check with Danny at http://www.acousticpromusician.com/inventory.htm
I got a good deal from him on mine.

My Cargo is the best travel guitar I've ever owned.

The action can be lowered but only to a certain extent.
With acoustic guitars, I prefer to buy an instrument with a decent action right from the start, especially if I intend to keep it for a long time. |

yes, the action can be lowered just like any other acoustic, by sanding down the saddle.
You cannot adjust a truss rod as it doesn't have one. At the same time, the guitar will never need a neck reset... I like mine a lot |

I'd love to own one, but I just never liked the sharp corner cutaways.
Make that a nice rounded corner, and i'm in. |

My new CA raw blue cargo has a somewhat high action also.
I found the stock Elixir lights were bending way too easily and intonation seemed a bit off. Mediums seem to offer a louder sound. I've worked on saddles in other guitars and plan to lower the saddle myself. Otherwise a very impressive good sounding compact guitar! |

Most corrections for high action on CA guitars are done by shaving the saddle.

I will be the third to recommend Danny at acoustic pro musician. Great deal and he threw in some nice stuff to further sweeten the pot. I got the green cargo with electronics and it gets played a lot.

Sanding the saddle is very easy plus CA will send you replacement saddles for next to nothing if you screw it up. I also preferred Elixir Nano-Mediums on mine. Really makes it sing.

I found the best deal on the Cargo RAW at LA Guitar Sales (www.laguitarsales.com) and for me the action was fine. They did however throw in an extra saddle at no extra cost in case I wanted to lower the action.
LA Guitar Sales had a ton of CA's on hand but most dealers do not, so buying the floor model is the norm. I don't think any store will discount a guitar just becase it's the floor model unless it's shop worn, but it don't hurt to ask. |
