Default My new marriage to the Earthwood

I've been in love with monel strings and variations of them; but two months ago I felt like missing a T-Bone steak in my tone. At my "local" high-end store, they sell Elixirs (definitely NOT an option for me, since I hate them), Gibson, D'Addario and Ernie Ball strings. I decided to go "cheap" and got 3 pkgs of the Ernie Ball Earthwood PBs. Lo and behold, the STEAK tone that I was looking for. Just a little happy story

The main criticism I have heard about Ernie Ball strings is about their longevity. Let us know how that aspect of them works out.

Not in my experience. I dont find they are shorter lived than Didarrio or Martin.

My preferred string of choice also, just put my next to last set on my Cedar topped Seagull CH. I really like them , they are close to the Bulk Martin strings I bought from Strings in the mail.

Sounds like you're still on your honeymoon.

Actually, I hate the Aluminum Bronze, but love the EW

I’m a recent convert to Earthwood Medium lights, both PB and 80/20.

I noticed on their lights, the high E string is an 11. Whereas on Martin they are at 12. Is the tension the same?

Earnie Ball is funny with that, for their acoustic strings anyway, their lights are actually custom lights.

I really like them. They come standard in Orangewood Guitars.

I don't have a very refined ear or sophisticated palate, but the owner of a local shop told me he uses them exclusively...I tried a set and, for the first time, could actually tell a difference...I've got a set of Medium-lights on each one of my 6-strings now, and will try a set when it's time to change them on my 12's...

I am also a big fan of Earthwood, both plain and coated, 80/20 & PB. I use the medium/lights 12-54 exclusively, it’s a nice balanced set.

Love the Earthwood 12-54 PBs on my '71 J-45. Not loving them on my '99 000-28; my ears prefer the monels.
