Default A poem....

came to me in the middle of the night.

Laying in bed at 2:30 am and lines started coming to me. I knew I had to get up and write them down or I'd certainly forget them. This process went on for about a half hour (up and down 3 times) And this was the result.

I thought it was pretty sophomoric, but it's created quite a stir with my Facebook friends, so I thought I'd post it here as well.

Out of the cradle our body does rise

Constantly morphing toward the next larger size

We fleet through our teens - a hedonistic time

This season of life's easy on the heart and mind

Then soon comes the day when it's easy to see

You're not the same person you used to be

A mind full of wisdom - a little slow in the step

The pages quite full in this journal you've kept

Time marches on only knowing one way

Pack as much as we can into every day

Sooner or later we'll see the light

When all of this chaos just doesn't seem right

It's a curious life - the way it unfolds

Constant motion in trade for a body now old

Twas a life well lived they'll say in the end

On the day when you finally lay down your pen

So don't fall prey to the pressure of peers

You just may end up living their fears

Sing in the sunshine - dance in the rain

You'll never have this day to live out again

That's terrific! What do you mean sophomoric? Really? If it is, I'm not even a freshman!

Well done... I like it a lot.

Very nice
Great as is but the songwriter in me thinks with a few small changes it could be a great lyric.

Thought about that - would need a chorus and bridge probably. We'll see if it makes the grade.

I agree, that is quite good and for those of us getting older (I guess that is all of us), it rings true in many ways.

Well done I say unto you,

even though some lines made me blue.

Apparently I've over morphed - need to loose some weight.
