00-42 getting some initial stain.
Per writes; "I have just sprayed the initial stain (just a light amber to fire the grain a bit) and a sealer coat."
Looking good Per!

Whoa nelly. Looking fantastic, specifically the grain in the top. I know he inlaid the fretboard with shell, but did he go under the board too or am I losing it? He's such a perfectionist it wouldn't surprise me. What's the nut width in the 42?

I know there seems to be regular criticism of those builders that build in batches.... As if they are mass produced. Per Marklund is a great example of how each guitar though built in batches, get all the individual love. Beautiful work.... I bet they are all amazing.

I think building in batches leads to efficiency more than anything. Regardless, if you follow the build thread on the UMGF for this batch of guitars you will see just how different the specs are amongst the batch. What Per is doing is incredibly intricate and to this point the execution has been amazing. We're onto something here!

42 Burst!
Per says; " The dark edges are still a bit translucent. As you can see the fretboard extension pearl and rosette is not scraped yet but you get the idea "
Matthew, the nut on the 42 is 1-13/16". String spacing at saddle is 2-5/16". As far as the rosette, yes, it is under the board just like this picture when he made it! ThanksPer!

Per is so OCD Who else would complete the shell rosette UNDER the fretboard. LOL.
That said, the burst is really phenomenal. This whipper snapper has a huge career ahead of him, and I for one am thrilled to be in on the ground floor. 009 for me, but his work screams 199. |

1st Burst was a bust, so...
The first attempt left spots so it was scraped off and re sprayed. Here is the result of the second attempt.
It reminds one of the Pre-war 00-18H sunburst. But nicer in my opinion, but a 34' burst was the goal here which had a bit broader darker rim. Third times the charm... Should really be something as soon as the pearl is revealed. Thanks Per!

You know it's a good paint job if you feel guilty removing the masking tape
