If you want Dave Evans tab, just buy the CD of Sad Pig Dance and you get a pdf copy of the book originally included with the vinyl LP. I printed it out a couple of years ago, when I bought the album after hearing of him, then checking out the samples on amazon. In it, you get most of the album plus some studies. Comparative lack of talent means I have never got round to braving it.

Dave Evans
Dave Evans' music and tuning - CGDGAD - changed my life.
Since hearing his music in the late 1980's, I've done 150-200 tunes in CGDGAD tuning, and just co-wrote a book on it. El

I'm listening now on YouTube. His bouncy, playful tone and style remind me of Steve Baughman.

Interesting read
Not an answer to your querie, but, an interesting read about him. https://www.npr.org/sections/allsong...erves-a-listen
I googled his name after reading your post. He definitely has talent. Thanks for bringing his name up to my attention.

Didn't know him before reading your question : I googled 'Dave Evans guitarist' and briefly listened to a couple intros... Any good guitar player familiar with finger picking and having studied Doc Watson's or Chet Atkins music, or early Dylan such az the original version of 'Don't Think Twice' for instance could probably teach you some of his stuff...He is influenced by folk music too, so you might listen to Bert Jansch for example...Lot of these people songs or musical pieces can be found in tabs, and would help understand his technique...
One of the songs I heard reminded me of 'Song for Chet', a piece by French guitarist Marcel Dadi who wrote many tuition books...All in case you are kind of discovering this guitar playing style. The pieces I've heard seemed in standard tuning, but considering his folk or celtic music influences, I wouldn't be surprised if he'd use DADGAD tuning too... All the best |

You might find this article about him interesting. I saw him live at Cardiff University around 1976,and he was brilliant. He's originally from Wales, which I hadn't realised, and moved to Bristol because of the folk scene there. He rarely plays now because of a hand injury.

But the Stephen Grossman that you give here is probably what is best till now (among what is available still for sure at least)...I once had a Steve Grossman record, it's good stuff no doubt. Then I post it again... |

Wow - sorry, I don't have anything to add to this except thanks for turning me on to this guy! Cool, cool playing.
The NPR article that was posted earlier was interesting - it says he designed and built his own guitars. I'm in love with this one: [IMG][/IMG]
