Default Clearance Priced Martins & Taylors

You would think after a few thousand posts and years here that I would know exactly where this should go - but - here goes. I was on the Willcutt site and they have a previously unknown, to me, clearance section that has dozens of Martins and Taylors at far below MAP. I picked up an heirloom guitar for a ridiculous price. Look if you dare.

Man, there is some nice stuff there, and it's tempting, but I've sworn off buying guitars on the internet. They're like Forrest Gump's box of chock-lits; you never know what you're gonna git.

I can only think of one guitar purchase I made that way that turned out completely satisfactory, and that was only because the manufacturer stepped up and Pleked the guitar for me after the fact.

Looks like a collection of NOS, discontinued models, and custom shop misfits they ordered that never sold that they’re trying to get rid of. Couple items that caught my eye were the D-21 Hide glue customs and the pre-Reimagined 2017 OM-42 that has the older 2 1/4” string spacing.

PSA only. I won’t be buying anything.

Trust me. You can’t have the OM-42.

You know Steve, I had a feeling when I read your OP and looked through the website that you had already snagged that OM-42... well done, partner.

My goodness. That's the last thing I needed to see. Thanking my lucky stars they didn't have a Martin 0-28VS.

I just couldn't pass it up. I guess I could have, but chose not to.

I picked this up from them in 2016. I didn't realize then that it was a clearance price. I didn't ask why it was so cheap.

Attachment 27882
But was it that much cheaper? At the 40% that forum sponsors offer is the price any different than getting from one of them and adding the pickup to it?
