Here is shot of the bottom of the pins. I know some "feel" that pins should go back in their same home spot. Full-disclosure, the numbers on the ebony pins don't show up quite as well.

That’s cool. How in the world did you number them so neatly

Always love the subtle changes in your build process, John. Tasteful and functional. ....These guitars are just magnificent

Fill with crayon or other embossing material (gold-leaf, whatever). Stands out fine.

Good point, I usually use a white (waxy) pencil to fill them in. Couldn't seem to find that darn pencil for this last set of pins. With my readers on, I could make out the numbers so ...

I had big plans for the shop yesterday. It was really windy up here on my hill. I lost power all day. (The good side was I got outside to do some work.)

Today plans were thwarted again, when a pipe in the shop developed a leak. Lots of water on the floor, but only some plywood got a bit wet. Anyway a trip to town for plumbing supplies, and by dinner I was back in business, but still had clean-up to do.

Tomorrow is another day. (I wonder what will sidetrack me then?)

After a couple of delays, got back working on the Italian Spruce/Brazilian Twins

Here is a (rough) shot of one of the headstocks after binding. The bends around the top corners of the headstock a little tight. (It took more than one try)

I also got started on the fingerboards for the twins.

I am using African Blackwood for these.

Here I am choosing a couple of blanks for the fingerboard and bridge

I didn't get shots of a couple of steps along the way, but the fingerboards are now slotted and radiused. Here I am finishing up the taper on the sides to get the alignment set.

Now on to the abalone inlays.

Here is one of the fingerboards with the snowflakes inlay, (I still have to do the other one.)

Hey John,
You probably already know this but I wash the gluing surface thoroughly with acetone. I had gluing issues with ABW, similar to Coco until I starting doing that.

Thanks for that tip. I use epoxy when I glue the fingerboard down, but it still probably a good idea to hit with some acetone.

Here are a couple more shots of the fingerboard, now that it is bound with Brazilian Rosewood and inlayed with abalone snowflakes.

Thanks. I just heard that the guitar was played by Lance Allen and recorded yesterday. Still need some (good) photos but it should be posted on the Guitar Gallery site soon.
