2018 Martin D 41 questions!
Hey Y'all I just ordered a beautiful martin D 41 from Wilcutt--arriving Friday I chose the Sunburst! Anyone play or own a new 2018 D 41? what should I expect? Wat are the best strings for her? I usually play Martin 13s....I am abit anxious because I just sold my awesome Hd 28v to finance her! Anyone own or spend some time on these 41s?? Thanks so much!

I’ve had mine for a few months now. What can you expect? She’s GORGEOUS - tone (lush and clean), playability (buttery once my setup guy dialed it in for me), craftmanship (impeccable, near Custom Shop quality) and looks (hubba, hubba).
Tried lots of different strings before finally discovering Santa Cruz Mid Tension. Love them. Play like lights but give the volume and crisp tone of mediums. Bottom line: It’s a lifetime guitar. And a perfect companion to my J-45.

Mainly Blues, Country, some Bluegrass, a little light Jazz. Picking, strumming, capoed...whatever. I’m equally bad at them all.

Chasingchet, I don't own that exact Martin model, but I do own a rosewood Martin dreadnought CS21-11, and also own a Martin D-18. The strings I use on both guitars are John Pearse 80/20 bronze in medium gauge. I've tried phosphor bronze on both guitars but haven't liked them as much as the 80/20's, which give the bass strings better clarity and make the bass better defined as a result. This increases the perceived bass response as well as providing nice, zingy trebles.
Hope this helps. Wade Hampton Miller |
