For Sale: Neumann KM-184 pair (sold)

Hello all,

If you're here then you are probably aware of the quality of microphones I am offering. These are in great condition and listed lower than any deal you will find on Reverb. I bought these from Kim Person (Tommy Emmanuel, Stephen Bennett, Matt Thomas) and she bought them new in the early 2000s. If you'd like the serial number I am happy to provide it.

Because my girlfriend also owns a matched pair of these mics and I'd like to buy some new camera gear it only makes sense for me to let these go to someone who would like to invest in some top-shelf microphones. I unfortunately do not have the original wood box with foam interior but I will be sure to pack these with the utmost care and have them in a leather or silicon pouch from either Sennheiser or Shure.

Good question, I should've mentioned. I am selling just the microphones with a leather pouch and plenty of packing so they are stabilized in transit. In a pinch you can use a very basic mic clip though, with a small cloth or napkin to ensure a snug fit. I did this for awhile until getting shock mounted clips - which admittedly weren't cheap - but nothing good ever is!

To buyers who aren't happy about no case - Dustin will pack them up just fine and they will arrive safely.
Then go get yourself a Nanuk 904 case and the mics will be fine. Maybe even better than the wood Neumann cases.

What is the difference between a pair and a matched pair? Are you mics one or the other?

I believe these are matched but I'm not 100% certain. Everyone says different things but the engineers I've worked with and trust are happy to use unmatched mics if the quality is topnotch as Neumann is known for being. Since these were bought new from the previous owner I believe they are matched, if not then most likely made the same year.

For those interested I did some research and apparently Neumann claims that their KM-184 mics are manufactured with a degree of consistency that they rarely went through the trouble of "matching", however I elected to take a photo of the mics including a shot showing they are 1 serial # apart so it's possible if one wanted to they could reach out to Neumann and check to see if these are matched. I honestly do not know for certain. I have the feeling they are because the engineer I bought them from was very particular about her gear. Please feel welcome to email me if interested.
