Don Grosh are my favorite tele's. Their hollow T is heaven.

While my Baja Tele may violate some historical Tele rules with 4 position switch and S1 switching, I sure do love her. Blonde, black guard and maple board. My favorite combination. And that soft V neck is crazy comfortable. Throw in the USA pickups and a used price tag around $500 and it’s an outrageous value.
I love all of my guitars but the one type I cannot foresee ever not having is a telecaster. Just something about that basic raw sound. I need to try out some other versions now!

I would love a vintage tele deluxe with two wide range humbuckers! I would change out the pickups on the Kotzen as it's not the tone I want. I'm not sure about the neck shape either. I would prefer a 52 or a nocaster shape.

Not just for Rock!
RK talks about the design...
the pickups... ...and in context:

Just for the record, they make Tele-like guitars. Only FENDER makes Telecasters.

Depends on the goal. Mine obviously isn't dead vintage spec. I wanted something that handles like a Ferrari. The B-Bender was original. The palm lever G-Bender was added recently and made by Rolling Bender. Twangy, fast, and multiple bends, and lots of Strat/Tele tones with a push/pull 7 way wiring. |

I’ve owned a few Teles over the years. Including the Baja mentioned. They’re great guitars in their own right. Superb value and features. To a purist...they’re not a “real” Tele. To me...they’re a FANTASTIC buy if looking for a Tele with a wide array of features.
That being said, my new Players series is one of the most fun Teles I’ve owned. Great necks, 22 frets, alnico V pickups, stellar build quality. Is it the BEST Tele money can buy...doubtful. But, it is a great Tele to have in the stable. You betcha...Especially considering it’s price point. |

Nope- Either a Hahn or a Ron Kirn

The best "Tele" or "T Style" guitar is the one you like the best .....they can be so different and the same depending upon features, woods, pickups, etc......there are other Telecaster style guitars, but they are not Telecasters........I own a "T" style guitar and a Telecaster....there is only one "Telecaster" and Fender makes it.......

The best telecaster I ever played was a TomAnderson model T. In fact, it was the most “alive” guitar I ever had the privilege to play. Someday...

What I like about a good Tele is that it makes me feel like anything is possible - that no matter what I play, the guitar can handle it with ease. It can handle anything I can possibly do, and plenty more that I can't. No limits. I don't always have that feeling - some guitars, even good ones, seem limited in certain ways. My own favorite is an American Standard that I've had about 4 years or so.
And yes, that Tele in the OP is nice - but the best? Nah... |

There's nothing in that demo that would tell me how good the guitar might be. It's laughable to think we could judge anything by the sound from that high gain amp.

That's the first thing that came to my mind also. I don't hear anything that I associate with the "telecaster sound."
