I owned a ‘58 Strat from ‘76 until ‘02 when I decided to sell it. Among the guitars and other things I bought with the proceeds was an ‘02 ‘57 RI Strat. So at 15 y/o, it’s now my oldest electric.

A '58 Strat, wow. Sounds like you replaced it with a great RI Strat. I wonder how much insurance costs for a '58 Strat these days?

I bought the ‘52 Les Paul in the late 70s from the original owner. I traded it for a ‘62 ES 335 with PAFs.

The body (which was a Charvel Star shape) is floating around somewhere, along with the neck plate (that actually has Joe Perry's name inscribed)... It is interesting to note that Lynn Ellsworth was actually an engineer, who did woodworking as a hobby. He happened to have a high school friend and bandmate named Wayne Charvel, who asked him if he could make these parts, which Wayne sold in his shop in Azusa, CA. Another interesting note is that when Wayne geared up for semi-production, he had a machinist help him make all the tooling, and his name was Dave Schecter. Who happened to have an employee named Tom Anderson. I believe it was either David or his brother in law who worked for a machine shop, and told Tom Anderson about the incredible new machine the shop had purchased, a Fadal CNC. So Tom became the first "boutique" builder to use CNC for his guitars, and made bodies for another pair of well-known names - Rudy Pensa and John Suhr... My oldest guitar is my 1977 or 1978 Guild D35. It has a Pure Mini pickup so it is kinda electric... My Dad has a mid 1960s Guild Starfire V which will be mine one day. That is a really scary thought - it is probably as old as I am!

Your guitar's a real beaut, by the way. I think us EVH fans are accustomed to flashier paint jobs etc. Figuring on that neck is insane. |

I’m good, haven’t been spending quite so much time here as I used to - but I’m back now! I love my Strat, still my go-to electric for flexibility though my favourite for playability is my G&L ASAT classic hollow body. Why don’t you play yours? Are you a Gibson guy...?

I have a mid 80s Jap Strat hardtail.
After that, my PRS-SE Custom is about 10 years old. My Epi Dot is about 10 years old and after that, I guess everything is much less.
