Electric Guitar amps thread.
We have lots of threads about guitars, how about one for electric guitar amps and cabs. Tell us about amps you own or have owned. I know some of you have even built an amp so include those as well.
Doesn't matter if it's tube, solid state, modeling, head, combo, etc. Hopefully we'll see some 1 watt amps. Here's a couple of my Marshalls; the Vintage Modern on the left and the JVM on the right. The cabs are the 425A and the 1960A. |

Got a Marshall practice amp, Fender Mustang I hooked into my computer, and a Tweed Deluxe built from a Mojotone kit. Just ordered a kit for a blackface Super Reverb for this year's project, too. Should be here in about a month, give or take.

I've been through all sorts of things over the years. As a dedicated basement noodler, this is the current collection.
First, and foremost, my Egnater Tweaker 15, through a Blackstar 1x12 head - Celestion-equipped. I have not found a sound that this little marvel cannot make yet. Second, and a very close second, a Vox Pathfinder 15R. This thing sounds better than any other solid-state amp I've ever tried. It might just be the 'best bang for the buck' piece of gear I own. Finally, I have a little Kustom Defender 5. This one frustrates me to no end. It's the least powerful (nominally) of the three I own, yet it's unusably loud in my room. I'll figure out a way of using it, one of these days.

Here's a pic of my favorite. A Gibson GA RVT-20.
I'll have to take a couple pics of my other amps. Apparently they're camera shy as I don't have any pictures of them. |

Pretty simple for me. A Fender Blues Junior and a Marshall Class 5. I love them both.

I was with my buddy when he (we) demoed a Class 5 a few weeks ago. I've heard them before but never cranked. It had a great tone with beautiful overdrive breakup. We put a pedal in front (I think it was a tube screamer) to give it a little boost. He also tried it through a 1960a 4x12, what a huge sound.

I posted about a new amp-building project a few months back but it got put to one side during the independence referendum here in Scotland (we lost, but next time..). Anyway, the long dark nights of winter are a good time to pick it up again. Power amp chassis drilled:

Dru, here are my guitar amps from smallest to larger.
First is my 5 watt Valve Train with The Spring Thing reverb on top. A wonderful 5 watt amp. Next is my Vox AC15, my go to at home. It is the one I use the most at home as I love the clean tone. The next three are my larger ones and on the left is a 76 Fender Vibrasonic Reverb with a JBL DF 130 15" in it. A very clean amp. In the middle is the Fender Cyber Twin SE, mistakenly referred to by many as a modeling amp but it has several different amp circuits in it and is the real thing. It can do all kinds of things but requires a bit of knowledge to program. It was not a successful product for Fender due to the programming learning curve. On the right is my extension cabinet containing another JBL D130 15". I am on the hunt for a head for this cabinet. My photography skills are lacking as it in not my forte. I also have several bass cabinets which I am not showing. I gig as a bassist. -- Darwin

Here's one of my 1957 5W Gretsch and Egnater Rebel 30 2x12. Couldn't sit two more dissimilar tube amps side by side. Love them both. The Gretsch is about as "honest" an amp as you get--one volume/on-off control and one tone control. Yes, it has the original '57 valves! The Egnater's clean channel is disturbingly clear, whereas the dirty channel is full of body and chunk, especially with my Les Paul.
And then there's this wonder, my Fender Hot Rod Blues Jr. NOS. A little 15W tone beast. My LP sounds good through it, but MAN what an amazing sound when I plug in my Strat. These three are definitely doing it for me.

Here are pictures of two of them. I'd have to dig around for other pictures for the others. I have a Fender Vibro amp I have given to my son, a digital solid state by Rocktron which surprised me in sound, another Kustom with a 1 X 18 bass cabinet (250), and then my Yamaha PA that really perform well with the Taylors.
There have been other amps over the years such as a Kustom 100-2 in cascade color (wish I still had that one), an Arthur Smith 1 X 15 tube which put out some sound, and Acoustic lead amp, and I am sure others that I cannot recall at the moment.

I've only had 3 guitar amps.
1. Started off with a Gorilla GC or CG-35 practice amp. 2. Started gigging with the first generation Fender M-80 solid state. 3. Bought a Peavey Delta Blues back in 2005, when I "warmed" up to the sound of a tube amp. I still have the Peavey.
