If I found buyers for all three of my electrics, I would more than likely replace them all with a Taylor T-3 B... I find the Taylor electric guitars to be stellar instruments that far eclipse anything that Gibson or Fender is making these days... and I have been a Gibson guy for a LONG time now, so that's a huge statement for me to make!
LOL, apparently you and I are the only guys on the planet who think the Taylors are great. My T3/B is quite nice. I think the T5 is just different enough that I have "no choice" but to keep them both, unless I really make my wife angry. For whatever reason, my T5 has insanely low action. The T3/B is still good, just not insane like my T5.

I like the Taylor solids, at least for sound. I just could not get comfortable with the neck. I don't know if it was the width, the flatter radius, or some combination, but it hurt my forefinger first knuckle joint to play. It was the best sounding guitar I've played in a while, playing sweetly or getting gritty. I was not happy to let that one go. Been playing my heavily modded Deluxe Power Strat a lot. Easy to play and a great range of sounds, especially with the modifications made.

If I do buy another electric, it won't be new as Hamer USA no longer builds new models.
It will be another Hamer USA T-51 (tele model).

That could be the main reason I like the Taylors. I grew up listening to shred and my hands have become used to action as low as possible. I don't think I have any guitars with a radius lower than 12" currently.

I just bought a Squier Vintage Thinline Telecaster with a Fishman Powerbridge installed in it. It'll arrive next week, in the midst of me selling a bunch of other electric guitars because I keep coming back to the same sounds and recording the same blends of electric and acoustic that this guitar is made to do.

I figure to rewire it with better components inside and depending whether the neck is the smaller Squier profile and nut width, maybe I'll stick one of my old Fender or Warmoth Tele necks on it.

My next electric purchase is leaning towards a Fender Modern Player HSH. I stayed away from Fender for over 30 years, but after picking up my Ovation super shallow I've got a desire to try a thinner neck than my early 70 Les Paul has.

I noticed some people posting about the Taylor T series. I played around with the Crafter version of the T at the local Guitar Center. They have a used one. Not bad, not great, but usable. The neck really reminded me of my Les Paul, it just seemed wide and thick. If it just hadn't been the color blue I might have gave it serious consideration.

The whole Guild Newark Street line is intriguing. I ended up buying a Starfire lV and it is a great guitar- much better than I expected. They reverse-engineered the Guild mini-humbuckers, the Franz single coil pups and the DeArmond monkey on a stick pickup as well. When my life settles down a bit, I'm thinking American Patriarch Aristocrat.

I am at one of those lucky times in my life, where I have no electric GAS. Which is a good thing for my bank account, since I usually GAS over PRS guitars! I have actually sold or traded several from my harem recently.

On the other hand, my acoustic GAS is a little crazy at the moment!

Eatswodo, that Guild is sexy, dude!

So what did you decide about branching into electric guitars? Have you decided what you will start carrying?

Nothing soon, but a Tele (or G&L clone) with a humbucker at the neck would be on my shortlist, preferably with a RW fingerboard.

Something for jazz, maybe a tele, most likely a hollow body heritage, guild vintage etc....
My Bourgeois sapped the reserves for the year but it was well worth it, granted my strats get most of my attentions....

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Sorry we are still evaluating... We haven't decided yet. Since we stock so many martins and blueridges in our retail showroom, we may need to buy more retail space first.
