Default what mic is recommended

I have a roland cube street and I am using a realistic highball unidirectional dynamic mic. My goal is to play some coffee shops once I get the sound I want. Not satisfied with the way it sounds now. Would up grading to a better mic help, if so what would be a good choice?

Hi padawan...
Yes, upgrading from the Realistic mic would improve your sound.

My gigging partner and I sing through amps at coffee shops, and we use either one of Behringer XM8500. They are a knockoff of a Shure SM-58, and the difference between them is minimal.

You could get an SM-58 too, but it will cost you $100 instead of $25.

Behringer XM8500 - CLiCK

Same mic from zZounds - click

They sound really great. We used them for talk-back from the sound board to the stage, and one night somebody accidentally plugged one into a vocalist's stand and nobody knew the difference. So we tested them out and bought 6 more.
