Default MXL 604's used as a pair...Any Problems?

Hi,

I think I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on 2 MXL 604's.
I plan on using them as a stereo pair for tracking acoustic
guitar.

Would there be any phase problems, etc... that I should
be aware of?

Thanks!

It will take time for you to experiment around with different mic placement techniques to discover what works for you and what doesn't. Phase issues will probably be the least of your concerns. I discovered that using one mic out from the 14th fret, the other one over my right shoulder (forward a bit, about even with the face of the guitar) pointing straight down gives me very nice results.

Just purchased a used 604, tried it today for the first time, matched with a Shure KSM 137, fed into a Zoom H4n. All seemed to go just fine! One mic positioned/aimed at the 12th on a 45 degree angle ( not straight on), the other aimed at the bridge, same angle.

I have a pair of the earlier 603s mics. They are great for mic'ing acoustic guitar. Just experiment with placement.
