Martin 000-15. I played 5 and picked the one that sounded the best to me.

Public service announcement, I know of a D 15 Martin for sale for less than 500 bucks. If anyone is interested pm me.

I love the look and sound of the Martin 15 series, but my favorite all-mahogany guitar I’ve ever played was a custom Taylor 12-fret grand concert model about five years ago. If it hadn’t been extra expensive due to the cocobolo binding and electronics — both of which I could do without — I’d have been very tempted to leave with it...

Sorry for digging this up...but just got a 2020 000-15M Streetmaster that well sounds unbelievably amazing...who ever had it play the heck out of it. It is very dark and has not the usual relic signs...It has become my favorite recording tool.

It would have to be my prior Taylor 524 First Edition with my Martin 000-15sm in second place...

I played one of the Martin D15s . It is sweet sweet guit. Apparently they only made a relatively small amount of them. If I had the $2,500 I would have bought it. It came with an aftermarket Soundhole pickup that I would have sold.

D15M if strumming.

00015SM if finger picking

Hadn't played very many all mahogany guitars, didn't think they were for me. Then was totally knocked out by a 00-17 Authentic ...

It's my favorite, but ... I have not played this one ... Wow!

The Alvarez Yairi FYM66HD is astonishing. There’s magic in that old growth Honduran mahogany aged and seasoned for 50 years after harvesting, hand voiced by a skilled luthier in a small shop. Full, balanced, dynamic, loud (when driven), with exceptional note clarity and projection. Mahogany is often called “warm,” but that misses the sparkle and depth here. The note separation rewards fingerpicking and jazz voicings, yet it lights up when strummed, without the (sometimes muddying) overtones of, say, rosewood and the airy woodiness of a spruce top. Exceptional fit and finish, and very hard to put down.

Well I guess it would have to be my 00015SM although I really like the Guild D1212 too. These two are my only experience with hog top guitars but they made me a believer.

I've become very fond of this one. I was playing it last night, and decided it's the easiest playing guitar I've ever owned. Love the tone too.

Default What's your favorite All Hog guitar ?

Lots to choose from. After playing all mahogany guitars from Martin, Taylor, Guild, Gibson, Alvarez, Santa Cruz and Collings, my favorites are a short scale OM and the Don Edwards model - both by Santa Cruz. I played a 1964 Martin all mahogany 00 (can’t remember the exact model) that was about as sweet, warm and clear as a guitar can get. My travel guitar is an all solid wood Alvarez MPA66shb - very responsive and fun guitar to play.
Best,
Jayne

My own, of course, which happens to be an Alvarez MDA66SHB. It is a 2017 and has taken a while to break in, though I understand hardwood-topped acoustics are sometimes like that. Having said that the best sounding all-hog acoustic guitar I've played was a brand-new Martin D-15M. So, for sure, my Alvarez is no D-15 Martin, initially sounding restrained. But now, at six years old, it still looks lovely and plays smoothly, but has loosened up. It is a warm and sweet-sounding guitar but took about five years to start showing.
