Default Home recording for YouTube/Facebook/personal use

I'm sure this question has been visited on here before. In fact I've asked something similar before, but technology is always changing.
What I'm doing is video for my own personal use. I've been using my phone which is a cheaper Samsung Galaxy A52. The video is good enough, but the sound quality not so much. Unless maybe I think it sounds better live than it really does. There is a case on my phone and I might try removing it.

My question, is there anything that will give me better sound results without costing me an arm and a leg?
I do want the video also not just an audio file.
I also would like it to be portable, because I don't have a dedicated studio. I play/practice in several rooms of the house. Usually whichever one my wife is not in.

Sample video I did just for laughs and to test below:

Hi Chas.

You have two basic choices. You can add a mic to your phone so you can get the audio component closer to the source or you can record separate audio and combine in a video / audio program on your computer.

First, here's a previous topic I posted on doing video / audio on the cheap:

https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=624837

Here the same process was used to combine a smartphone video with audio recorded with a Tascam DR-05. This is a "quick and dirty" recording to demonstrate CGDGBE tuning on a nylon-strung guitar, so the vocal is really not important.

I'm a bit of a cheap n' dirty specialist, so here's the same process using a $50 pair of Behringer small condenser mics feeding a Zoom livetrak L-8 recorder. The audio was combined with Smartphone video on a PC using Reaper to do the editing.

Depends how much you value an arm and a leg. One option is a separate recorder like a Zoom H2N, and then mix the phone video with the H2N audio in a video editing package.

If the budget is tight you might find a Zoom H2 (predecessor of the H2N) on eBay, etc.

I found this mic that might work with my phone. Does anyone have experience with these?

Yours sounds great. I really think mixing would take me a while to learn how to do..

Do be aware that it's not about just using a separate mic.

The IMPORTANT thing is to get the mic close to your guitar. If the mic is at the phone or camera you end up achieving the sound of your room and not your guitar.

It's worth the effort and it's not that difficult to do. Depending on what equipment you are using there are lots of folks who frequent this forum that can offer suggestions.

Probably one of the first things to do to simplify the process is to get yourself a good smartphone mount. I'm using an iKlip in the photo below.

Good point had not thought of that. I have found a cheap clip on condenser mic on Amazon. I think I will get it and an extension cord for it and keep it really close to the guitar.

I bought a Shure MV88+ which is a mic for IOS and android phones and a mini tripod. I've used it twice so far, lol. I'm not a big one on videoing myself. A sound file is just fine for me and if I want to do a video I'll make a slide show set to my music. I have a Galaxy Note 10+ 5G. See if your phone can use it.

This is it, $250

I use a Rode NT mini connected to my iphone.
Heres a sample (about 25 inches from the guitar and you can see it on the left side of the screen).

That's my arm and a leg price. I was hoping for around 30 to 50 bucks.

Do you have to use an adapter to get it to connect to your iPhone?

Yes.
A USB to Lightning is required. They’re only a couple of bucks.
