Correct neck relief...?
My brand new Yamaha CG 162 cedar sounds wonderful to my ears, with no string buzz and good action (3.5 mm low E and 3mm high e).
The neck relief, measured at the 12th fret, is exactly 0.09. Because the guitar has no truss rod, I'd like to know from more experienced classical guitar players if this is a correct neck relief or if it is too much ? I am used to steel string guitars and I usually keep the neck relief at around 0.05. When I was in the store, I was undecided between this Yamaha and a spruce top CG 192 S that had very little neck relief ( around 0.05). I am still in time to switch from my current 162 C and the 192 S if you tell me that it is safer to get the guitar with a smaller neck relief. Can you please advise ? thanks ! |
