Saslow's book is basically a tutorial introduction to playing ragtime style. He's got some catchy tunes that progressively teach you the style. It's not really a repertoire book, tho the tunes are certainly performable (but they're really short). it's just like all those books that teach you to play jazz with "sounds like" tunes that are similar to actual songs, but not the real thing. Remember, this book dates from 1974 - there was astoundingly little in the way of published fingerstyle guitar music at that time, so it was a pretty amazing discovery for me, even tho I never cared about rags. It still stands up, and is a great beginner/intermediate book on the style. You can go from there to play standard tunes, if you want. People who would benefit from this book are not the same ones who would be able to just pick out a Blind Blake tune by ear. Might be a step toward getting you to that point, tho.
